Natural Homemade Remedies For Treating Swollen Gums

It is a very painful and uncomfortable experience to have swollen gums. The inflammation results from allergies, infections and injuries, among other causes. Besides pain, you are likely to bleed or feel as though the space between your teeth has increased. There are a variety of natural options for treating swollen gums that will restore your comfort and relief pain without exposing you to side effects.

The use of cloves has continued for centuries and is wide spread among different communities. It can be used in its natural form or as an extract. By mixing the oil with pepper, you will get a paste that is spread over the affected area. The other option is to chew cloves as a whole. You will experience similar relief.

Ginger is commonly used for health and medicinal purposes beyond its known dietary functions. Ginger is crushed and then mixed with table salt to form a paste. By rubbing the paste directly on the affected area, you will reduce swelling and relief the pain instantly. The procedure should be repeated twice a day until the swelling clears.

Lemon adds another medicinal intervention purpose beyond the other uses it is known for. Lemon remedy is prepared by boiling one medium sized lemon in a glass of water and taking the resulting soup twice a day. Gaggle the mixture in your mouth for several minutes before either swallowing or spitting. You may also choose to rub lemon directly on the inflamed surface. Rose flower essence is also used to enhance lemon and applied twice or thrice a day.

Warm salty water provides quick and temporary relief. Preparation is simple since it requires you to add a tablespoon of salt onto a glass of water. The mixture gaggles in the mouth for two minutes before spitting. Ensure that you interrogate the root causes of your swelling to make the remedies more effective.

Baking soda is an effective home remedy for gum swelling. Baking soda is mixed with turmeric extracts and used to massage the affected area. It will clear all the bacteria and infections on the gums and thus bring pain relief. Baking soda can be used when brushing your teeth on regular basis as a preventive measure.

Several natural and readily available oils can be used to deal with gum swelling. These oils include peppermint, tea tree and chamomile. They are either used individually or as a mixture and are highly effective. The oils are also effective when added onto toothpaste during regular brushing. The results are excellent when used on regular basis.

Castor oil is very effective in treating inflamed gums and providing a long term solution. The oil is fast acting and easy to prepare. It is mixed with camphor and rubbed on the swelling. The oil helps to arrest bleeding and should be applied two times a day to increase its effectiveness.

The other home remedies available include honey, bark of Babul, Lawsonia Inermis leaves and Aloe Vera. Whenever you are using home remedies, consult your doctor to avoid allergic reactions and negative side effects. Look for a permanent solution since the swelling does not go with pain relief.
