Drug And Alcohol Treatment Centers Should Consider Outsourcing Their Billing

By Terry Burnylong

Many alcohol rehabs today are pulling their hair out of their heads. They are asking themselves how they can make more profits. Most treatments centers today are not highly profitable. Most are barely making a profit. The reason for this is that there are too many mistakes happening today with medical coding. Most coders are not trained in ICD-10. They are still stuck in the past on ICD-9. It is shocking to see how many coders are not trained for the codes that were released on October 1, 2015.

For starters, ask someone what you need to do in order to get your business to the next level. Ask a coding company how much money they charge to do the work. Often it is a 4% to a 10% service fee. No matter what happens, you need to take your business to the next level. A certified medical billing company can often get you a higher return on your investment. They work for you. An in house medical biller may not have the necessary skills for your business to succeed.

When you outsource your medical billing to a company, they work hard for you. In order to keep you as a client, they know that they must make you happy. If you are not happy with them, then you will most likely fire them. They often charge you between 4% and 10% for their service. This may or may not work for you depending on how much money they can get for your rehab. Alcohol rehabs are expensive to run. You need to pay employees from all walks of life to work for you and for various reasons. If your treatment center is not profitable, you could be losing money each week and thus your business will eventually be shut down.

Medical billing companies are not hard to find these days. If you search in Google, there are over 30,000,000 searches that come up. That is a lot of information and so few people know which one to choose. If you are not having any luck with you in house biller, it is important to outsource the work. Most coders are not prepared for ICD-10. It is mainly because nobody really knew that the changes would be so significant. Many coders now are asking themselves if they should go back to school or get certified. It is coming to a point where everyone is going to have to get certified eventually. Those certifications mean that you know what you are doing.

Medical billing companies often have a full staff of employees working for them. It is not uncommon to hear of everyone being certified at the location. Yes, they pay these people lots of money to work hard for you. The choice that you make will either break your treatment center to take it to a new level of success. A lot of billing companies today are based on their reputation.
